If Sunday's community shield match at Wembley is anything to go by, looks like Manchester City will be in for a shocking Premier League season, as they squandered a 2-0 lead against football giants Manchester United. I cannot express the utter distaste I have at the mentality of the owners of City, this 'I have millions so I can buy the title,' - the same attitude Roman Abromavich had but look where Chelsea have ended up. United may be in debt, but at least they are winning titles, buying and selling within the transfer market and also giving new talent such as Ashley Young a chance to shine. As much as I have always liked Ashley Young, I think he stands out more as "Aston Villa's winger" rather than "Just one of those players at Manchester United" but he was drawn in by the prospect of higher wages, actually WINNING a trophy and having to fight for a place in a highly talented squad. Despite this, as the seasons go on, I am beginning to lose interest in football as the game lacks the passion and drive previously displayed, and instead becomes more money-orientated and players taking their eye off the ball too often (I.E their social life). Not for me to make a judgement, but I really do believe that the game has almost become alike a reality show
Before I comment anymore on my predictions for the season, I will actually have to look into the squads and how I predict each team is going to fare this season. I am also thoroughly surprised at the decision NOT to postpone Tottenham's first game of the season against Everton on Saturday, although Tottenham High Road is barely recognisable after the rampage which took place on the streets on Saturday, as the picture below shows.
Us as a club have a brilliant prospective season ahead of us, qualifying for the Europa league this year and finishing just below the top 4. However, with Liverpool's recent strengthening of their squad, I do believe they are in with a chance of making at least the top 5 this coming 2011/12 season. As a Tottenham fan myself, I am concerned for children, the less able and women around being this area, just incase trouble does occur again. It is simply too dangerous to have 35k+ of people milling around the streets, at risk of minor injuries. Also, the police force has been stretched to it's limits and does not need the problem of rowdy football fans, although this seems to only be a minority of fans. I mirror Harry Redknapps view about recent events in Tottenham as 'Appalling' but I admire his faith in the community and I am wishing him the best in the coming season, (And crossing my fingers he doesn't get offered the England job!)
shocking :O never seen anything like it
